Journal Update (Chin Yee)

to my very dear interns: sorry for being such a nuisance, for being so irritated and fussy, especially for the past days when i lost my precious pen. sorry i guess i kind of was reacting in a reactive manner, but it's just i make sure i take care of my stationery very well and my stationery are of pretty good quality because i believe in feeling good when doing written work (writing/drawing etc.) and i hate it when i lose any of them. especially for the pen that i've been using since pri6/sec1 that my parents bought for me (i saw it as a new found trust and responsibility thing that they trusted me to take care of such expensive stationery), and which have been through my many many essays, workings, equations, and tests & examinations. thanks for bearing with my whinings and worries and much thanks to esther for finding and using my pen which was eventually returned to a very happy owner! :) *beams*

the past week i've been busy with high five designs (recruitment postcards and posters), cdc volunteers shirt design, EiE poster design, thinking about ideas to make the cdc volunteers page more attractive, sourcing for camp venues for high five recruitment camp, and sourcing for vendors for venues/plaques/banners/certificates for VAA. and of course, friday was spent packing the goodie bags for seniors' fair.

chinnie's various considered prospects :)

doctor
one extremely well-informed, carefully considered choice. i've never thought anything about it from young but interests soared after pleasant encounters at hospitals and from my personal medical appointments with doctors. then i took part in biomedical quiz and got the chance to do a hospital attachment at alexandra hospital to really gain experience about the work life of a doctor and got to interact with doctors and patients. plus i really enjoy biology and the sciences and through preparations for the biomed quiz i have been introduced to the med subjects as well. no matter how cliched it may sound, i really want to serve the ill and the healthcare sector in singapore, and help the ill to delight in their treatments and guide them through their path to recovery. all these because i have watched and experienced the power of the human touch to healing. it's amazing, really.

architect
not extremely well-informed, but have found out some information from my senior's friend who is studying architecture now. this prospect arose really early in upper primary when i was really interested in bridge structures from pictures... then i really really like drawing as well, so i always had this impression that architects are cool they will design every sort of buildings and yeah i remembered how i wanted to design pretty houses and schools. plus i've always enjoyed viewing floor plans and i'm glad i also have the gift of visualising 3D stuff easily, so i thought that architecture would be something that i would be suited for and could enjoy.

pilot
the love for planes actually started just before i joined youth flying club for flying lessons in 2005. it was a great experience, sparked me off to look up more on the saf and to take part in aerospace industries information session for students where the different occupations in the airline industries presented their roles and about their careers. i like the thrill of being in control of the airplane, all alone. i like the drive of perfection. but ultimately, this choice fell back behind the first 2 because, i felt that though it is really a challenging job and job satisfaction comes from performance in flights, i found it a rather selfish career and it does not involve much interacting with others. frankly, i don't find much purpose to being in the top line of defence for the country, or to ferry passengers to and fro destinations, or to freight cargo. but possibly, i would be enjoying myself doing rescue missions and ferrying first aid and basic necessities to disaster-stricken areas. hence it still remains as my alternative career path.

walt disney
and dream dream dream... i really love disney cartoons and i really admire and respect walt disney's ideas and creations and how he started out with just sketching cartoons of a rabbit which he then improved on to make it more rodent-like and eventually came up with the cute mickey mouse. and on his ideas for stories, the whole disney company's shows of adventures, love, friendships and heroes. i would love to work with walt disney but i don't know how. plus i don't even have any portfolios on animation works i doubt disney would take me in and train me to be one of their animators or storyboard creators. but i'm still just dreaming that maybe someday i could just happen to create the next big animation hit in cinemas, after finding nemo. :) disney hasn't worked with giraffes as cartoon characters yet and i will be doing that if i happen to know how to request to work with disney animation studios. :) :)
