Seniors' Fair
It has been a very tight and packed 2 weeks, as we have many activities lined up for us. Playing a part (even if it's just the manpower portion) in Seniors' Fair 2007 has opened my eyes to the demographics of our community today. Even though statistics have been shown to me before, it was only during Seniors' Fair, when I was actively looking out for elderly people to give flyers to, that I realized that quite a big proportion of our community is made up of people above the age of 55.
Chinatown Heritage Trial
Preparation for the Chinatown Heritage Trail forced us to scrutinized our knowledge of Chinese customs and culture in Singapore. We had numerous discussions about the various reasons for the different practices for Chinese New Year, as well as the beliefs and taboos that most of us grew up with. The preparation went on smoothly with minimal problems as we were all quite responsible and read up on the information that the other interns prepared. It was a good working experience because everyone was aware of what was to be done and did it to the best of our ability.

Various Attachments/Other Experiences
With regards to the Home Visits and the attachment to the Career Consultant, I must say it was an eye opening experience, similar to that of my first MPS session. In a sense I am more deeply affected because I have seen first hand the living conditions of those who stay in one room flats, and also the difficulties and barriers that a person with a criminal record has to overcome while looking for a job. These concepts are not new to me – they've been told to me so many times I have learnt to simply tune them out. But seeing is believing, and now I have a better understanding of what these people have to go through, and the social stigma attached.
